The Rules of Gun Safety There are several versions. I've seen lists of up to ten! But my feeling is Jeff Cooper's original Four Rules of Gun Safety is the best. 1. All guns are always loaded. 2. Never point the muzzle at anything you're not willing to destroy. 3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target. 4. Be sure of your target and what's beyond it. I feel Cooper's is the best because it covers all the bases and short lists are easier to remember than long ones. Commit to heart these Four Rules, follow them, and, in my opinion, you'll be safe.
